小寒，是中国传统二十四节气中的第二十三个节气。

小寒，斗指子，太阳黄经为285°，于每年公历1月5-7日交节。

元?吴澄《月令七

十二候集解》中解释：“十二月节，月初寒尚小，故云，月半则大矣。”

小寒是冷气积久而寒，是天气寒冷但还没有到极点的意思，它与大寒、小暑、大暑及处暑一样，都是表示气温冷暖变化的节气。

小寒，一个“小”字，似乎将隆冬的寒气化解了许多。小小的寒，人间尚未到最严寒的时候。

但其实，小寒才是一年中最冷的时节。俗话说：“冷在三九”，小寒恰在三九前后，所以自古流传着“小寒胜大寒，常见不稀罕”。

小寒节气的到来，意味着进入了隆冬季节。

在这愈来愈冷的寒冬时节，古人们根据气候对动物们的影响，把小寒分为三候：

一候雁北乡

小寒之日“雁北乡”，这个“乡”是趋向，北飞雁已经感知到阳气，是为先导。

二候鹊始巢

小寒后五日“鹊始巢”，喜鹊噪枝，已经开始筑巢，准备繁殖后代了。

准备过年

进入小寒年味渐浓，人们开始忙着写春联、剪窗花，赶集买年画、彩灯、鞭炮、香火等，陆续为春节作准备。
