tell us about yourself
这是很常见的一种开场白，也是一个开放式的问题，在这里你的面试小组并不是想让你尴尬，而是提供了一个破冰的机会。你的回答应该与你所在的场合相关，不仅仅要展示你的学术成就、兴趣和目的，也可以谈谈你的背景，你来自哪里，你的兴趣是什么，可以尝试与你的学术专长和你选择的大学联系起来。或者有什么特别的事情让你考虑攻读博士学位，有什么东西吸引你来到这座城市和这所大学，也可以谈一谈。

i’ve always been interested in discovering how things work,but my time as anundergraduate opened my eyes to the excitement and wider benefit of science.i had thechance to do some original research on my masters and that’s inspired me to take up thechallenge of a phd.i’m also a keen hiker and amateur naturalist,so i’d love to combinemy studies here with the chance to visit the local area.

what do you plan to do after you complete your phd?

are there any training needs you can identify ahead of your phd?

给出一个事实，说明你为什么会成为一名优秀的候选人？
首先要用适当的头衔和他们的姓氏，问候你想称呼的人士。感谢他或她与你会面。请记住，大多数在学术界工作的人都很忙，感谢所遇到的人慷慨地分享他们的时间。提醒面试官/博导和你之间的谈话。他可能还面试了其他人。提醒他谈话的要点。帮助他们记住你是谁。告诉他们你喜欢该计划的哪些方面？并解释你为什么想参加那个项目？

一定注重自己的礼仪！很多导师会非常反感一些没礼貌的行为，如果留下了这样的印象基本不可能替你写推荐信。
不要用口语，俗语或者表情包，要有针对性的发。不管你和导师是不是特别熟悉，都要注意这是一份比较正式的邮件，千万不能用一些口语化的表述义
内容要真诚，不要长篇的寒暄。夸导师也要注意不能乱夸，一定要让导师感受到你的真诚。
用积极的态度去感谢，确保语气中的积极和尊重。
不要发送过长的感谢信，尽量写的简介一些。
